Red face shared memory dump problem

Hello All. I am working in a shop where we have a 9.3 Informix database running on a RS6000 (AIX/Unix) that is suffering from a bug that causes a database shared memory dump about every 30 minutes.

We are working with IBM on getting the bug patched and thats a story in itself. What I am wondering is if there is a way to turn off these dumps or direct them to null or anything to mitigate that dumping process? Anyway, these dumps slow our system to a crawl for a short time and make everyone just generally miserable.

Pardon me if I sound totally ignorant of all things Informix, I am not afraid to admit it! Thanks in advance.

Yes there is a way to turn mem dumps off.
Check your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file at the bottom.
In there you have parameters like:
DUMPDIR and DUMPSHMEM.
If you set the last one to 0, no mem dump will occur.
