RedHat7.3 Informix SE more command

Using Redhat 7.3 on smp 2.4.18-18.8 patched kernel with Informix-sql v7.31.uc1.
If I create a shell script that pipes the output of a sacego report to more (or even less !) the user types input is not echoed to screen whereas without the more command, all works ok ! Any ideas anyone or can anyone point me in the direction of the source for "pg" !!!
