ontape -r hangs

Running IDS 9.2 on an AIX 4.3.3 box...

I attempted an ontape -r cold restore on an on-line instance, and discovered that I cannot do a warm restore of rootdbs. Then I brought the database off-line, su'ed to root, and tried ontape -r once again. All it does is hang there, doing nothing. Any ideas?

I'm reading from an archive on disk...

Normally ontape prompts for the first tape.

Does this prompt happen or not ?

Check your environment settings (INFORMIXSERVER,
INFORMIXDIR, ONCONFIG, INFORMIXSQLHOSTS,
PATH).

Retry the "ontape -r" as user informix and see if there
is any difference.

Without more information this is difficult to analyze.

Best regards

Eric

Thanks Eric -

It turned out alright - I guess I was expecting an immediate prompt to mount a tape - it was my first attempt at ontape -r - anyways, eventually the prompt came up, and everything went fine...
