I am trying to write a robust script to populate data in my newly created tables in informix database. I used to read in and reuse values from one select statement to the insert statement as follows:

select org_key from organizations where org_name='my_org';
insert into employee (org_key,emplyee_id) values ('&org_key','1');

How do I do something like this in Informix.
