HELP!!! Weird HPL Problem

All of a sudden, our HPLs from the GUI (ipload) stopped working. They all get an error "Error -1 initializing backend connection". However, doing the exact same thing from the command line (onpload) works. Has anyone had this problem before? What should I look at to find the differences in my ipload vs. onpload?
