Hi Frank,
this is a very interesting question.
We also have Informix on Windows and back up the unload files daily.
But this is not the smartest solution, I guess.

Hi Frank,
there are about 40 files (for each table one) and the filesize is between 350 MB and 1 kb (depending on the tablesize).
The unload process takes about 40 minutes. But this time depends on the CPU type, we noticed. If you use a fast CPU, it will take a shorter time.
The we pass the unload files to the back up software (ADSM).

Hi Regina

Thanks for information. Unfortunately our files are larger totalling some 50 GB which is why we do need a Storage Manager system
