backup/restore on tape in network

Hi !
i'm trying to backup and restore with ontape on a tape that is installed on my informix-backup-machine.
ontape -s -L 0
on that tape shows no errors, but when i try to restore on the backup-machine
ontape -r quits with

>function read archive backup failed code -2 errno 0

onconfig is same on both machines, except for values of TAPEDEV

anybody who understands me and my problem??
help!

thnx

Hi,

The structure of on-lines must be equal.
Retore is on the same maquina or another one ?
The tape drives are compatible ?
With the protected tape, test to read it with the commando dd (UNIX).
