sco+informix 723 errno 25587

we access the informix database with ec(EXEC SQL database :hs_user_id

.

it report 25587 when we call system function sleep().
( after call sleep() then call database access sentense !!!MAYBE!!! cause the error )
can you tell me why and how to avoid this error
