I've trawled through the majority of the posts in this forum, and if anyone can point me to the faq then it may assist but if not:

we currently have an installation of (version unknown) on SCO Open server release 5 which on the whole is accessible via pre determined tables in databases.
First off I am looking to create new databases (I will persevere with IBM manuals et al for the procedures) so if anyone can point to worthwhile sources for info (other than this forum and IBM) I'd be grateful.
Second, for the tables I am creating I will use symbolic links to identify and locate but without knowing the table field characteristics , is it possible to retrieve the field characteristics from some other source?
