I get the error message:

can't init asf

when I try to use onspaces to add chunks to a newly initialised database?

The command works fine when run by hand, but fails when run from cron?

I'm not an informix dba, what is asf?

Informix 7.3.1 on AIX 4.3.3.

I may have found a permission problem on /tmp where my informix user seems unable to ls .. as it returns a permission denied. There is no .. entry in /tmp.

Just trying to figure this one out before to prove it's not related.

As an aside I have not changed my environment, but can not be sure no-one else has. This was a working script which has been running for over a year. It just stopped working....good old Mr Nobody again!
