shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'odscp6'

Hi,

I run informix but after 16 days it stop working appropriately and doesnt allow any query. Tehn I try to kill it as follows:

onmode -yuk it gives following error
shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER 'odscp6'


anyone can help

take a look at the output of 'onstat -m'.
your server seems to be off-line already.
maybe you only need to bring it up again... and then review message log file in order to know what really happened.

Hi,

I see the following errorr in my log file, it seems backup is not working, but after I killed and started, now backup is working?

any idea?

Your backup is working fine, the message tells you that one of your logical logs was backed up. You just have to initialize your instance using the oninit command and then verify your online.log file (or use the onstat -m command) to check why your instance went down.
