Database Administrator

Location: Rockville, Maryland

Duration: 3 month contract to hire.

Job Description:
The Database Administrator will be the lead DBA responsible for managing our clients existing SQL Server infrastructure in addition to planning for future upgrades and improvements. Position requires a strong MS SQL Server background in a .NET web based application and business solutions development environment supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

Needs both SQL Server and Oracle DBA background, ideally a minimum of 2 years with SQL Server.

Required Skills:
The candidate should also have strong all-around server hardware and Windows OS experience, an intermediate level networking experience and troubleshooting skills and some experience in deploying and managing Oracle databases servers.
Administer and maintain SQL Server Database servers and databases
Manage database backup and restores (experience with RMAN a plus)
Implement data models and database designs
Strong physical database design experience
Proficient in data import/export, data replication and data migration
Experience with Enterprise Manager
Provide data access and table maintenance
Troubleshoot and resolves database issues
Handle database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues
Provide disaster recovery planning specific to database servers
Performance tuning & monitoring database servers
Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of databases
Perform installations of SQL Server or Oracle
Experience with stored procedures
Experience writing DTS Packages and Triggers

Supplemental Skills:
Deploy and administer Oracle Database servers
Data Modeling
Experience with Data Analysis, understanding of ERD.

Education & Experience:
Bachelors Degree (In Computer or Engineering related field) a plus
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Database Administration
SQL Server Certified DBA or Oracle certifications are a plus
