Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 6 Months (High probability to extend through 18 months)
Pay: Fair Market Rate (All Inclusive)Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides expert level DBA services for Production, test, and development databases across all platforms.
Works closely with senior developers and logical data modelers to perform physical database design for critical business applications/databases with the largest numbers of interfaces and users.
Resolves the most complex Production database problems.
Performs database administration for open system server databases, including installations, upgrades, configurations, and patch applications. Performs day to day monitoring, optimizing, and developer support for creation of databases, tables, and indexes.
Builds backup and recovery jobs.
Recommends implementation technology to developers.
Conducts performance analysis of applications and database management systems.
Trains and mentors staff.
Resolves the most complex issues elevated from staff with less experience.
Administers and maintains Production, test, and development databases.
Tests and evaluates IT vendorv products.
Reviews application designs for compliance with Productionv acceptance requirements.
Ensures backup, recovery, security, reliability, and performance of the systems.
Provides key technical leadership and expertise in large scale projects.
Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels.
Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Security policies and procedures.
Verifies deliverables meet Information Security requirements.
Participates in special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.

Technical Skills:
Expertise in the following DBA practices and concepts:
Complete software development life cycle
Technical standards, procedures & deliverables
RDBMS - DB/2, Oracle, and Sybase (optional)
Database performancev & tuning
Database replication
Database monitoring, optimizing, and maintenance
Database logs andv trouble shooting
Entity relationship designs

Expert knowledge in the following products;
DB/2
Oraclev & associated productivity tools (i.e. - OEM)
Erwin
Microsoft Office Suite ofv products (i.e.- Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
Visio

Other Competencies:
Minimum of 8 years experience in this field and broad understanding of the Financial Services industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong planning and organizational skills
Familiar with open systems, specifically Unix
