PROJECT OVERVIEW:



Assists, defines, and/or oversees database organizations, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. Provides technical consulting in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment. Develops applications to help solve database solutions to business problems; data architectures; database management system facilities and capabilities; and the operation and tuning of databases. Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods; access time; batch processes; device allocation; validation checks; organization; protection and security; documentation; and statistical methods. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, and integration of systems through database design. Maintains and documents shell scripts and batch processes. Ensures that documentation is complete and up-to-date. Develops and applies procedures for periodic database backup.

Database administration and enhancements to case management applications for the Dept of Justice Executive Office for U.S. Trustees. All work is at Government site in a team environment supporting the database application needs of the user community.



DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Set up Oracle and DB2 databases; set up development, test, and production systems; backup and recovery; security; documenting standard operating procedures; support enterprise configuration management processes; support legacy applications. Experience in DB2 is required. Candidate must be flexible and able to quickly learn and adapt to fast-paced and hectic work environment. Candidate should expect to perform a broad range of tasks including system administration and programming support of legacy system Oracle applications.

Requires some early evening and weekend work.



REQUIRED: At least 5 years experience in Information Systems or related area.



DESIRED: At least Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
