Chicago, IL– Senior Hyperion Essbase Programmer, Financial Reporting & Planning Systems

Responsibilities and Requirements – Note the client is currently unable to provide visa sponsorship

• This position calls for in-depth hands-on Essbase experience (full life cycle) with financial reporting and analytical applications

• Extensive, proven experience with Excel VBA, outline design, load rules, calc scripts (write/maintain/enhance), Esscmd and MaxL scripting, batch scripts, security objects, tuning, optimization and the Excel Add-in

• Highly skilled in Excel and Access

• Experienced with fast-paced, time-constrained development

• Able to organize, prioritize, multi-task assignments / projects

• Strong functional background of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and planning processes

• Create custom processes to aid in Essbase data validation and confirm system outputs are correct (data integrity)

• Create and maintain MS Excel VBA and front-ends to support various reporting needs

• Perform daily tie-outs with source systems

• Develop / enhance the automated processes enabling the Essbase applications to operate in a true production environment (involves creation and maintenance of command scripts that automate the routine loading processes)

• Perform problem determination, analysis and resolution for users, and work with other departments to facilitate issue resolution including delivery of programming fixes

• Maintain, support and manage all assigned applications (includes administration, tuning, production fixes, upgrades, and routine maintenance of the Essbase applications)

• Define and document test cases to effectively test new components

• Manage change via an established change management process

• Implement customized financial models designed to meet customer requirements

• Provide support to the user community

• Must be comfortable working in a project environment and interacting with various levels to include Budgeting and Planning Executives and Financial Analysts

• Able to understand complex business needs, and possess logical problem-solving skills

• 5 to 7 years work experience (per above) with Hyperion Essbase

• College degree in Computer Science or related field preferred

• Must be detail oriented and self-managing

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, both technical and user focus are essential

• Able to learn new skill sets as needed and keep skills updated (willing to ask for coaching or formal training if / as necessary)

Nice to have skills

• Experience with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), and other Hyperion tools

• SQL experience

• Advanced or graduate degree a plus

• AS/400 relational database experience

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary based on qualifications (the range is probably low to high $90s) plus a benefits program that is effective on your start date: medical, dental, vision, long term care insurance, life insurance, AD&D insurance, travel accident insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, and educational assistance. The 401K program includes a $0.75 matching for every dollar up to 9% (starts immediately), fully vested after 3 years, and a paid pension plan that also vests after 3 years. The client will seriously consider providing some form of relocation assistance (probably a sign-on bonus) for relocation expenses for highly qualified candidates.
