Database Administrator: ADRevolution


ADRevolution is looking for a highly motivated Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the databases and related infrastructure of a rapidly growing online advertising company. The DBA will establish and implement best practices regarding data definition, data quality, data security, and data integration for existing and new MySQL database implementations. Applicants should be experts in MySQL, and ideally conversant in other database technologies. The Database Administrator will interact with all members of the IT team, and work with members of the Development and the Operations teams on a daily basis, and reports to the IT Manager.





Responsibilities:


Lead MySQL Server software installation, maintenance and conversions


Maintain multiple databases in development, test, and production environments


Perform database security configuration and administration


Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies


Perform logical database design and physical database implementations


Create, test, and conduct performance tuning on MySQL databases


Develop SQL processes for data loading, migration and application interfaces


Create deployment scripts, including rollback scripts, for all database changes


Develop and enforce organizational SQL standards and best practices


Work with the development team on aspects of database design including tables, views, stored procedures, permissions, etc.


Due diligence of vendor-provided solutions as they pertain to the database architecture


Analyze current capacity and loading, and plan for rapid future growth


Ensure an extremely high level of data availability and redundancy


Other duties may be assigned.




Requirements:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field


3+ years professional Database Administration experience


Experience managing 1+ terabyte database in a 24x7 UNIX/Linux environment


Experience working with MySQL through the UNIX/Linux command line interface


Experience with MySQL in a high concurrency, high load production environment


Experience with MySQL replication and the command line client required


Proficiency in database performance and tuning


Able to efficiently retrieve data from a relational database


Experience programming in scripting languages such as k-shell, c-shell, and Perl


Strong UNIX/LINUX background


Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills


Hands-on experience with working on large datasets


Experience in 24x7 data availability environments


Highly organized and self-disciplined with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment


Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal


Able to work both independently and as part of a team




Pluses:


PHP programming skills a strong plus


Exposure to table partitioning or sharing are a big plus
