Smile POS Systems Support Manager

J. McLaughlin a high end retailer is searching for a systems manager for their Point of Sale Systems. We are looking for candidates with prior pos experience. Please see information on the position below.

The main responsibilities and functions of the System Support Manager is to implement, train and provide support to local and remote users of the POS and business applications supported by the IT Dept. The System Support Manager is also responsible for analyzing business processes; structure/provide reporting for operational and decision making business activities based on end user and management requirements.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

End user support

• Provide help desk support for IT related, POS, and business application questions
• Assist in the creation and evaluation of IT requests and direct them to the appropriate
internal/external IT resource based on request requirements and resource capabilities
• Analyze and resolve issues regarding application functionality
• Analyze and resolve data integrity issues

User Training

• Create training documentation for Celerant Command Retail POS, Microsoft Dynamics GP and other IT
supported applications
• Develop and deliver application training for end users

Business Process Analysis

• Analyze and understand complex business process and document said processes using
PC- based tools such as MS-PowerPoint , MS -Visio, MS-Excel, SmartList Builder, FRx and Crystal
Reports
• Develop operating procedures for business processes utilizing Microsoft Dynamics GP and the
integration with Celerant Command Retail POS application
• Develop and customize as necessary applications to meet business process requirements that cannot be
met using either the existing Microsoft Dynamics GP or Celerant Command Retail POS applications
• Utilize and update test environment for use in piloting new application implementations and version
upgrades

Business Applications Promotion

• Understand the suite of Microsoft Dynamics GP applications and business process requirements
such as to be able to recognize and promote opportunities to leverage the applications to
improve business operations and operating performance
• Advocate and encourage the utilization of the Microsoft Dynamics GP applications and its
feature/functionality to all business units
• Develop effective presentations to describe the potential use and benefits of business
processes utilizing the existing business applications

Analysis Tools

• SQL Query Analyzer, SQL Report Engine, SQL Analysis Services, Great Plains Report Writer,
SmartList Builder, FRx, Crystal Reports, and others


Skill and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills and comfort with ambiguity in addressing yet-to-be defined
client business challenges especially where there is no precedent
• Ability to effectively communicate complex business processes and application solutions to
users at all levels
• Proficient in MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Access, MS-Visio, MS-SQL and Crystal
Reports
• Microsoft Dynamics GP applications: AP, AR, GL, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order
Processing, Inventory, and Project Accounting
• Understanding of the standard packaged systems implementation process
• Understanding of the standard software development life cycle
• Strong team player skills: flexible, friendly, collegial, and enthusiastic
• Four year degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of experience in Information Technology
• At least 1 year experience utilizing POS and ERP applications in a distribution, manufacturing, or retail
environment
