Database Engineer


Specific Responsibilities:

Provide complete DBA support for Oracle including installation, configuration, security, backup/recovery, writing stored procedures, and replication in an enterprise level environment.

Interact with customers and developers to set up server environments, define standards and procedures for high availability installations, make performance recommendations, assist in capacity planning, implement monitoring scripts, and support troubleshooting efforts.


Programming Skills/Specific Duties

Required Experience:

Working in a Windows environment
Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle software (Server and Client)

Configuring tablespaces for Oracle 10G Spatial

Creating SQL for GeoSpatial fields

Configuring security and access privileges

Optimizing and tuning Oracle databases

Working with developers to improve SQL performance

Creating stored procedures

Importing and Exporting data

Estimating/planning capacity

Diagnosing and resolving problems

Developing, testing, and implementing Oracle backup and recovery procedures

Developing database monitoring/alerting procedures and utilities

Working in a clustered database environment

Configuring and troubleshooting replication
Desirable:

Developing C++ applications

Requirements
The database engineer must have significant experience (6-9 years) of demonstrated experience and proficiency
BS in Engineering or Computer Science
TS/SCI security clearance required
