Summary
Full-time position currently available in Happauge, Long Island for a Senior Systems Developer : Java SE GUI JDBC Oracle SQL write to APIs, lots of customizations to vendor software applications, moving files around, development and production support. Swing and JDBC are key core skills.

Must reside within reasonable commuting distance, and have own transportation given public transportation is not available to the work facility.

Not currently providing visa sponsorship.

Looking for a self-starter, someone who is sure of their own code, has critical thinking / problem solving ability with advanced design skills who does not require hand-holding, who can work very well independently (although you will be part of a small team), and learn quickly.

This position develops end2end applications (not business or financial), and will provide production support when necessary (means after hours support when needed for the applications you develop).

Applications developed provide all content delivery systems for on-air broadcasting.

Calls for 5 - 10 years development experience, and about 2 years Swing GUIs, but note we are not looking for a web developer.

Provides Java development and maintenance functions to support current and future applications.

Primary responsibilities

Develop new applications using Java based on specifications provided
Provides support and training to the users
Assist in data base design
Enhance current Java-based applications as new requirements are identified
Performs maintenance functions as needed, both for new and existing applications

Requirements

4-year degree or equivalent experience
4 or more years Java programming in a corporate environment.
Must be well versed in Java SE, Java Swing GUI, Java JDBC, and Oracle database
Must be familiar with J2EE, Sun Solaris, and computer networking
This position requires independent work with a great deal of communication between different groups - excellent communication skills are a must
Position requires after hours support when needed and occasional / minor travel.
