Profile of a good fit applicant

The three primary skills needed are Java, Web Services (SOAP preferred), and C++. Must be strong in all three but the C++ experience does not have to be as current.

Lots of experience writing to system level API’s

Someone who has developed applications (cradle2grave) which allow different types of hardware devices to incorporate different types of storage solutions

Media industry background, video streaming or IPTV experience would be ideal. Or someone who has worked on HP Openview extending the features of that or similar products.

Writing automated tools for some sort of video asset management system where you need to establish communication between different pieces of hardware and software through system level API’s - e.g.,to find out their status or/and execute some function(s) – like working on some network or operating systems management applications.

The position

This position reports to and works in the studio and broadcast operations center on software that communicates between sub-systems (client moves video content around using a digital end2end workflow system that talks to the SAN and makes calls to it on a system2system level).

Acts as Manager for the development, architecture, and maintenance of new systems (cradle2grave).

Works with various departments to develop requirements for new systems; architects software to support large scale computer systems as well as disk and tape-based storage systems utilizing industry standard methodologies; develops Java and C++ based applications and automation; develops exhaustive software test plans to ensure systems meets all requirements, and maintains the applications.

Requirements

Degree in engineering/math/CS is preferred

Minimum of 10 years software development experience -- experience in software development in the video entertainment industry or relevant systems development for automation or integration of systems

Must have strong development skills in Java, C++, and expertise writing to API's and GUI development (Swing preferred)

XML is a plus

Knowledge of UNIX, RDB's, networking and storage systems

Must be self-starter/self-motivated and desire to analyze problems, architect, design, and develop solutions using cutting-edge technology

Must work well in a team setting, have strong verbal and written skills, and willing to perform after hours support as needed and minor travel.
