This full time, on-site, salaried position is located in New York City paying $90,000-$120,000. No telecommuting allowed. US Citizens or Green Card holders only please. Local candidates strongly preferred.

My New York City client is a media company that will focus on delivery of the conversation versus the profile. They call this Social 2.0. The next generation where users actually talk to each other in real-time or as close to real-time as possible changing how people communicate. Their systems are designed to replace chat, social apps, SMS and MMS through full mobile integration and web-infusion. The company is privately funded and is in the process of securing secondary funding which delivers 3 years of solvency.

Required Experience:

- Extensive experience with SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008
- Thorough understanding of relational database design and concepts
- Experience with mirroring, replication, and log shipping
- Experience with clustering
- Previous experience in database upgrades - SQL2k to SQL2k8
- Ability to accurately work within the company conventions for database object naming and SQL code within stored procedures and triggers
- Experience partitioning horizontally and vertically
- Ability to solve deadlocks

Duties:

- Responsible for database server upgrades from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008
- Provide 24x7 support and maintenance for production databases
- Maintain and monitor database backups and rotating archives of backup files
- Production database disaster recovery
- Configure and monitor database mirroring for mission-critical databases
- Configure and monitor log shipping for selected databases
- Daily database server health checks for: backups, jobs, mirroring, replication, etc
- Monitor and profile production database Servers for load and performance bottlenecks
- Query optimization and performance tuning
- Assist application developers with database schema and procedure changes according to company conventions and best practices
- Analysis and approval of database schema and procedure changes from dev to staging to production environments
- Write and update advanced stored procedures for business reporting purposes
