Data Warehouse Infrastructure Architect

We are currently searching for a Data Warehouse Infrastructure Architect Team Leader to fill a full-time position in Bridgeport, CT. Note that qualified applicants must reside within a reasonable commute to Bridgeport.

No visa sponsorships at this time.

The employer is a $160 billion banking and financial services provider with locations in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont (and others).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information or a related discipline
• 8+ years in a technology infrastructure architecture role specifically for data warehousing solutions that support advanced analytics
• 3+ years in an operational or infrastructure build / deployment role
• Knowledge of ETL toolsets such as SSIS / data stage is a plus
• Knowledge of OLAP solutions such as SQL Server Analysis Services is also a plus

Architectural experience

• Architecting SQL Server, Oracle, Oracle OBIEE, and web solutions with special emphasis on designing for the interoperation of diverse technology platforms, and meeting / exceeding technical, functional, availability, and performance requirements
• Design and document technology solutions for large scale business intelligence and data warehouse platforms and applications (servers, storage, network and backup / restore)
• An understanding of the drivers for solutions-performance (e.g., users, availability, data volumes, peak periods and business cycles)
• Awareness of technology directions and trends, and able to plan evolution into solution designs
• Experience with MS Windows Server, AIX, VMWARE, Oracle, SQL server and OLAP, multi-tiered, frame and cluster technologies
• Strong understanding of web architecture (hosting, workload balancing)
• Strong SDLC knowledge and experience in the context of architecture design, construction, testing, implementation and rollout
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Presentation skills

• Able to meet with technologists and high level management to quickly identify current state technology platforms, and provide options for future state architectures
• Skilled in forming and presenting technology infrastructure recommendations, and able to secure acceptance for recommended solutions and budgets
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Able to forge strong ties with IT management, and win buy-in for proposed solutions
• Work with external vendors / partners and evaluate shrink-wrapped solutions for suitability in the environment
• Support the solutions delivery and information services teams on an as-need basis
• Able to function in a technology leadership role, and serve within existing project teams on an as-needed basis
Technology support
• Perform capacity planning and performance management / monitoring to avert surprise needs for upgrades and ensure service levels
• Support existing technology infrastructure platforms – possibly triage / resolve issues
• Evolve issues identification and resolution processes while reducing support / maintenance incidents and costs
