Senior SQL Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, and technically strong Senior SQL Database Administrator with a background in supporting production OLTP applications to join our dynamic Site Operations team. This position functions as a hands-on Lead DBA responsible for coordinating the implementation, configuration, and administration of large-scale Microsoft SQL databases. Candidates must be proactive in ensuring stable and continuous services, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develops and maintains processes and procedures for performing database management and administration functions for production and test environments
• Responsible for documentation of maintenance schedules, tuning activities and ad hoc requests to the database
• Analyzes and determines informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements for complex databases. Recommends and implements course of action based on analyses
• Defines logical attributes and inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance
• Responsible for specifying proper types of files organization, indexing methods, and security procedures. Responsible for the planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with database administration of SQL databases and associated servers
• Coordinates with IT Infrastructure and other departments as required
• Performs database tuning for optimal performance, supports production to include maintenance, requests for service and system configuration management. Performs duties in a complex, distributed, heterogeneous computing environment, which may involve different types of hardware platforms, operating systems applications, and network environments.
• Ability to multitask and reprioritize work in a changing business climate
• Supports implementation, upgrades and roll outs
• Oversee high availability and disaster recovery technologies and processes
Qualifications:
• 7-10 years of database administration with 4 or more years dedicated to database design or maintenance (ie Schemas, stored procedures, T-SQL, performance tuning, optimization, triggers, views)
• Must have experience with SQL Clustering (2005 and 2008) setup and maintenance.
• Must have experience with SQL Mirroring (2005 and 2008) setup and maintenance.
Certifications:
• MCDBA/MCITP: Database Administrator 2005 or 2008
