DB2 (Z/OS) Database Administrator duties include at a minimum the following tasks.- Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot DB2 databases and DB2 database system applications;
- Migrate from non-relational databases to relational databases;
- Consider and recommend the most appropriate normalization level for the DB2 environment;
- Train developers in the protocols involved in accessing and updating in DB2;
- Provide project leadership for various initiatives in the DB2 services area;
- Perform logical and physical database designs, implement and support new and existing tables;
- Monitor DB2 space usage and database performance;
- Perform database reorganizations as necessary;
- Maintain current disaster recovery plan for mainframe operating systems infrastructure including DB2, system utilities;
- Establish and maintain recoverability, performance and capacity planning facets of the database systems;
- Evaluate client specifications, design all databases necessary to complete client requests and provide technical guidance to other members of a project team;
- Create DB2 performance statistics for the agency;
- Perform new development work; and
- Transfer current systems to a new platform.
Technical Skill Set- Expertise in administration of DB2 databases
- Expertise in Relational database design and maintenance
- Expertise in the use of z/OS,
- OS390/MVS and DB2 version 8 or higher database utilities
- Experience in creating and maintaining DB2 database systems
- Experience in establishing and maintaining recoverability, performance and capacity planning facets of the DB2 database systems
- Proficient in performing DB2 database and system administration on an IBM Mainframe z/OS operating system
Desired Technical/Business Skill Set- SQL Server 2005 or higher
- Knowledge of Federal Assistance programs under the direction of Health and Human Services
