Teddy,

The 'code bank', does EVERYONE have the ability to post there? If so, I have a ton of code that may be useful to people.

Bryan

***There is a user, Paul Kohn (pkstormy), in the MS Access db area (he may be in the SQL area too), he's been really, really helpful for me and others as I can see. I wanted to suggest possibly making him like a moderator?

No - that right is strictly limited to members

Pootle,

Posting into the code bank, I figured was allowed by only members but didn't know if there are restrictions. I know another forum that has to have the forum admins "preview" everything that goes into a sticky like that which is why I was asking.

Add a new flag?

Hi,

Is it possible to add a new flag to the forum, to be visible on the forum's front page? The purpose would be for the person who opened each thread to declare to the world, "I no longer need help in this matter." Of course, no one else would have access to the flag, and people should be encouraged to use it.

Setting the flag would not prohibit further discussion.

I find it disconcerting to browse through a large thread, where the problem is solved at the bottom of page 2, but discussion continues through page 4.

Thanks for allowing me to sound off.

Sam

I don't think that's a half-bad suggestion.

I think this is a good idea but not an imminent issue

Better Search Function

Noticed when searching, it searches all forums. No advance search is available to narrow the search only in certain forum.

Excellent idea Sam - just what I was thinking - rather than trawl through threads to identify if they have been 'answered' / 'satisfied'.

FYI - I've cleaned out two pages of irrelevant posts (as suggested in one of the posts I cleaned out ). MODs - you can review these in the relevant thrown thread if you chose.

I noticed that this thread is approaching 3 years old. I am still going to contend that without sufficiently motivated people following through on at least some of the suggestions then the value of this thread doesn't amount to much. Perhaps someone could compile the suggestions and we allocate some responsibilities to follow some things through?

This thread is not intended for functional questions, only suggestions as inferred by the title.

I'll go through this thread and remove anything that's not relevant to the topic sometime this weekend.

Also, this is more of a cold fusion question than an MS Access question. You may have better luck targeting the CF crowd.

I'm starting to have more free time now that Baby Teddy is getting more independent

I'll be in touch regarding your suggestion.

How about the user who enter the original thread be allowed to tag the series of solution treads that worked best for them and append any additional information explaining how they use the provided solution/s in their real life problem. Then have an Icon on the original thread appear that once clicked will jump to and query all the relevant threads that were tagged.

Thus, saving users time avoiding all the unrelated comments and reduce the number of times the same question gets ask again and again.

There are other forums that have "thread statuses" as you have described above, but for this to work it needs to be put in place when the forum is first born.

It is a good idea for the original poster to respond to each of their questions with a summary or which posts helped and why, and where applicable, the final solution.
