pk, it's actually contracts, rather than contacts.

Is not the way the relations and tables are set up now 1 farm can have many sub famrms. 1 sub famr can have many contracts?
Yes

I think you're on the right track with the forms, as long as you're able to add all the (possibly multiple) agreements, contracts, harvest info, and products relevant to the subfarm into one form (i.e. using subforms).

A small matter of terminology: a relationship is not the same as a relation.

A relation is a key term in relational databases (in fact it is what the "relational" is derived from) and has nothing to do with relationships. Relationships are what Paul is helping you with.

OK - carry on

thanks, did not know I was using the incorrect terminology. I was thinking relations referred to table relationships.

When adding data to all those tables, agreements, contracts, harvest info, products. How can I go about doing this with out creating a mess of forms. They are all relevant to sub farms. If I can select a single sub farm name from a list, is there a way to add all those tables fields into one form? Queries are not updateable are they? When i select sub forms, I can only add one table. Maybe I am not doing something right.

thanks...........

On the SubFarms form, you'll need a sub form for each of the related tables. That, in my mind, would be the easiest way.

Create a subform - Access - Microsoft Office Online

I am looking at how data is going into the tables (working/learning with many sub forms). When a contract number(s) are assigned to different sub farms and sub farms are assoicated with parent farms. Will I be able to see what contracts are listed under a single farm?

Maybe I do not have my forms set up correct.

My tables are populating>
CONTRACT> auto(PK), contractName, ContractNumber, SubFarmID(FK)
SUBFARMS> auto(pk), subfarmName --- the FarmID (FK) is not populating because of the (FK) is not associated.

So will I be able to query contract names and numbers associated with a Farm Name? Several sub farm names could be the same.
