Question Access 2002: Add image to DB & display in form

Hey all,

Hope someone can really help me on this one.

My daughter has begun to collect coins. She wants me to create a way of logging her coins with a photo.

I have tried to add a OLE to a field in a table, but when I created a form from the table using the wizard it always shows a image filename and not an image.

Please can someone talk me through the way to make this work?

Thanks all,

Lensmeister.

I would recommend NOT using the OLE. You will find that it will quickly bloat your database to the 2 gig limit.

I find it best to store just the file path to the image.

You can still view the image on the form.

See:

This is a basic example of how to store the path to a file and also be able to view the file. You can browse using the standards windows common dialog to select the file. You can view the file using the application defined with the Windows File Associations. It uses the ShelExec API to open the file. It does not use the .Followhyperlink method.

This example is a continuous form that could easily be used as a sub form to attach multiple documents to a record.
