Hi...

I need to create a database. Kinda green at this so I need to know if Im setting this up right. I have existing files like this:

C:\Descriptors\1.0
Primary
Secondary

C:\Descriptors\2.0
Primary
Secondary

Notice that the paths are different but the file names are the same.

Inside these files are sets of parameters. Within each parameter...there is a set of attributes.....like this....


(Descriptor\1.0\Primary)

Column = 1 (parameter1)
Name = Step (attribute1)
Type = Int (attribute2)
Limit = 1:100 (attribute3)
Control = Spn1:1 (attribute4)
Width = 600 (attribute5)
DataWidth = 3 (attribute6)

Column = 2
Name = Zone1 PSI
Type = Float
Limit = 0:10
Control = Spn2:1:0.01
Width = 900
Datawidth = 8

Column = 3
Name = Zone2 PSI
Type = Float
Limit = 0:10
Control = Spn2:1:0.01
Width = 900
Datawidth = 8


The number of parameters and attributes may change from version to version.


I was thinking about this approach.....let me know if this is way off base.

Table Name: Descriptor
PrimaryKey: VersionNumber
ForeignKeys: Primary,Secondary...

SubTableName:Primary
PrimaryKey: VersionNumber
Attributes: ColumnNumber, Name, Type, Limit, Control, Width, Datawidth



Will this work?????
