hey all,

I'm trying to set up a table where the far left column will stay completely still, and I can scroll all the other columns when needed. The left column will be categories, and the right columns will be different sets of measurements for those categories.

Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance

windows -> freeze panes

or drag the small bar next to the scroll bars to split your windows with each bit being scrolable

hmm freeze panes is about what I'm looking for but I can't implement it just the way I want..


I need to make column A be completely static. Then when I scroll down, all the other columns will move but column A will stay the same.

freeze panes is close because I can scroll the panes separately.. so I guess I need to make column A be it's own frame somehow..

what you are after is to do this

highlight cell b1

go to the Menu Window then choose option Freeze panes

this will allow you to freeze column A and not be able to move it,

if you want to have some rows at the top frozen as well just select cell B?
where ? is the cell below where you wan't to freeze

that worked perfectly, however it doesn't freeze column A vertically as well as horizontally. do you know if there's a way to freeze it for vertical scrolls as well?

not sure what you mean if you mean scrolling down then probably not but if you want to replicate the behaviour vertically select the cell below where you wan't to freeze then freeze panes again otherwise it would probably have to be a macro
