Hi All,
I have just implemented a new 'Switchboard' workbook that purely contains hyperlinks to other files/reports produced on my team. However after the development of this workbook was completed and tested successfully, an intreaguing problem has occurred. Whenever i click on a link it opens the correct file but closes my switchboard file (leaving Excel application open though). This file was specifically created to contain no additional VBA code due to system restrictions for users so i can not understand why the problem is occurring.

Any advice or information would, at this point, be a godsend.

Ive never recived this kind of thing before and i use hyperlinks(not a lot mind you) between workbooks and worksheets
what are you linking to and ill see if i can come up with a soloution or explanation for you

Thanks for the responses so far. I followed the link posted and it comes up with a solution that makes sense (sort of). But as a follow up i am unsure of how to implement this.

The link suggested that the file is merely being hidden not closed and offered the following solution:

1) Use Windows Unhide
2) Use the Most recent file list
3) Use the back & forward arrows ( I think they are on the
Web toolbar)


Or finally, trick Excel into thinking the file has changed
by putting an @Now formula into your initial file (don't
forget to save it initially) & then Excel will leave the
file visble, along with the file you are jumping to.

My problem here is that a) i dont know what an @Now formula would be (is it like a before close event, that type of thing) and b)any suggestions on what formula i would use to trick Excel ?

Any further help would (as always) be greatly appreciated.

That would just be the Now function:

=Now()

to return the current date and time. I don't have the problem, so I couldn't test it. Let us know if it works.
