Disable user interface

I am writing data to an excel sheet that is visible and would like to keep the user from doing ANYTHING until the process is complete. is there any way to stop them from interacting with excel?

I think it might work to use the line:

ActiveSheet.Protect UserInterfaceOnly:=True

If you want to have it occur every time the workbook is opened, then include this in the Workbook_Open code.
