sequencing cells when draging dates?

Hi Guys,

Im dragging a cell that contains a date howevewr instead of incrementing the date it increments the year

ie.

----------1-----------2-----------3-----------4
A----21/08/06------21/08/07---21/08/08

B

C

Ive tried entering 2 dates then dragging across but i still get the same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Aboo

You have to enter at least two dates for Excel to know the pattern to increase.

In A1 put:

21/08/2006

In B1 put:

22/08/2006

Now select both cells then drag to the right (I assume you are moving the cursor to the lower right of last of the selected cells and when it turns to a crosshair, then you are clicking and dragging).

Hi shades,

I did that but instead of incrementing the day, it increments the year every 2 cells along.

i.e

21/08/06-----22/08/06----21/08/07----22/08/07

any ideas?

Can you attach a sample with what you have done?

if you want to increase them by the date wont a simple equation solve that

A1= 22/08/06
A2=A1+1
then... Fill>>Right>>

since dates are represented as numbers to excel you just add 1 and its a new day. try that if you want to be specific use month and day functions for other tabs include a calendar on an another sheet if need be.
