I have a cell that Formated to accept Date in the (mm/dd/yyyy) format.
But when I test it, it accepts text as well and may sho incorrect data.

How to fix it, so user may only enter the Date in the correct format?

Howdy. Formatting does not affect data entry.

Rather, select the cell, then go to Data > Validation. In the drop down choose "Date" and it will give you possible beginning and ending dates. Now everything entered has to be Date. Also, you have a pop-up error message, if you select the last tab "Error Alert".

Actually, in validation, it doesn't matter. I would choose the beginning of this year as the starting date. It won't matter about changing.

Unless you don't want someone to choose a date prior to the current date. In that case, then in the starting date, put this:

=TODAY()

If you use

=TODAY()

in the Starting from box, then it will only allow whatever today's date is and after. For ending Date, if you want it to be moving as well, then in the ending date, put this:

=TODAY()

This will allow only the current date. If you want it to go forward 30 days, then

=TODAY()+30
