Pivot table calculated fields

I have a monthly report of orders.

I need to a caluclated field show all orders before 31-Jan-2012 as my pending orders.

So i created a calculated field saying IF(Date <DATE(2012,31,1),'Quantity Pending',)

And all my other fields i put a calculated field saying if date>date(2012,1,2)..

Where am i going wrong??
