Can't create MS Query in Excel 2010

This happened on a 64-bit Win7 laptop, and the database that I tried to connect was offsite. I didn't have a problem connecting to it thru vpn on other 32 bit machines. The error was "communication module was invalid. The communication driver was not properly installed." Did anyone else run into the same issue? And did you figure out a solution?

64bit MS Office 2010 Solved the Problem

Tried reactivating 32bit odbc on the laptop but that didn't work. Eventually we turned to the 64bit version of Office and that solved the problem. However, 32bit office seems to work fine on 64bit win7 machines until you touched odbc and MS query.
