Smile Text Import Wizard

Every day I have to handle a lot of .txt and .prn files in Excel, and sometimes the Text Import Wizard is very limited for my purposes, because sometimes I have to deal with Multiple Lines Records or sometimes the layout is not very regular, here's exactly where my problems start.

Is there any application that you know I can use to make my life easier??.

Any help will be appreciated.

Jorge

Hi,

I usually recommend clients to me to download and evaluate the shareware-version of

ConvertXLS
http://www.softinterface.com/Convert...onvert-XLS.htm

or

WordConvertExe
http://www.softinterface.com/WCE/WCE.htm

Both standalone programs are powerful and do the job excellent. Teh drawback might be the price but if You decide to go further with one of the tools then I strongly suggest that You ask the provider the possibilies to get some discount.

Note: I have no part of this business but I like the tools very much.

Kind regards,
Dennis

Thumbs down Importing Text to Excel

First of all, thank you very much Dennis, I tried the software you recommended it, and it wasn't really what I had in mind, I am looking a little less complex.

I've been looking for a way to deal with this issue and it is weird that I haven't found anything, maybe I am not searching correctly.

This is basically what I need:

TXT File:

Name Employee#
January February March
John Doe 12345
$123.45 $234.56 $345.67

Required Import to Excel:
Name Employee# January February March
John Doe 12345 $123.45 $234.56 $345.67

Obviously the files I need to work with are bigger and more complex this this one.

Any comments?

Thumbs up

I have used for many years a product called Monarch. It extracts data from text files via a template which you define - it is multiline.

Have a look at http://monarch.datawatch.com
Cheers
