Help

I have a problem where I don't even know where to begin to look for the solution. I am using a VB application to transfer data from a MySql table to an Excel sheet. Everything works great except one thing. I have an int field in my MySQL table, but when I upload the data from the database to the Excel sheet, this int shows up as a date. In the MySQL table it says 5 and when it goes to Excel it says 1/5/1900. When I click on format cells the cells are formatted to date. How can I keep it from doing that? Thanks.
