Not sure if this is the right place for this thread...

I have and excel file that I want to put into some DB that could be accessed and modified by a few people via some web application.
What is the best solution for that? What DB is better? What front end is better? Is there already available open source solution for that? Is there a possibility of running reports on it? Is there a tool already available for that?

Have you tried Google Apps?

Just throw your Excel file into Google Apps as a spreadsheet, give the appropriate people access and let them have at it.

I thought about it and i will propose it as a simplest and quickest solution but i have a feeling they want something with an interface to update that rows and add new ones and run reports.

So no, you haven't looked at Google Apps...
