linked server question

Hi,
I have a linked server connection from SQL SERVER 2000 to Sybase 11.9.2 and can see all the tables and views in sybase database. But, when I try to access a table from MSSQL SQL query analyser it is not able to access one single table and gives the following error....
I am a newbie in SQL2000. Please help.

Server: Msg 7356, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' supplied inconsistent metadata for a column. Metadata information was changed at execution time.

Regards

Subhas

Re: linked server question

Try to select data use:
OPENQUERY ( linked_server , 'query' )
instead of use:
select * from linked_server.database.user.table
