Problem with mysql installation

Hi, I have downloaded and installed the MySql 4 from www.mysql.com but whenever I try to run the mysql from Command Prompt (C:\mysql\bin>mysql) an error message is appeared (ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySql server on 'localhost' <10061>). I have WinXP Pro.What is going rong?
