Mixing up data

Hi everyone, I am a bit new to SQL so bare with me.

I have a table with loads of names in and I need to jumble them up. ie. Need to move one surname to one record and move that surname in to another record.

My mate mentioned using a cusor, any ideas?

can you please elaborate what "move one surname to one record and move that surname in to another record" means

do you want to do this for just one surname? and which other record?
