I have been given the advice to go with MySQL for our newspaper archive database. We would like to do the following: Store archived articles (text documents), PDFs of past issues and possibly photos from past issues (.tif, jpg) all in this database. We would like to use one database for several publication Web sites. I am currently working on a Mac G4 running Mac OS 9.2.2. I have been told that there is third-party software out there so that I can run MySQL on my Mac.

Now to the questions:
Is MySQL the best solution?
Is the Mac thing going to be a pain?
Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?
