Ok.. Im about to start a work placement soon and part of my job is to develop a site for estate agents and various agencies. This will use data held on a server which is queried via Php. All the data will be held on a server in the office. Now how many simultanious connections could the MySQL and php handle? Is it like 300-400. I know this is relient on the server speed so say its a 1 gig server.

Is their a better way to do this? It needs to be cheap, free being ideal.

I'm sure it's between 100 and 115 simultaneous DB connections (threads).

Is that dependent on the server or just the limititions within MySQL and php. By the way id be using the ADODB scripts to connect to it.

i was way off :

"The maximum number of connections MySQL can support depends on the quality of the thread library on a given platform. Linux or Solaris should be able to support 500-1000 simultaneous connections, depending on how much RAM you have and what your clients are doing."
