Unnecessary files?

Hi,

Just wondering why mysql creates two 0 byte files in my root directory in Windows. They consist of a random four character name (such as t17k and t17k.1) and can't be deleted while mysql is running. Is there any way to specify some other location for them (if they now are needed)? What are they used for?
