How can speen up/optimize an order by querry? They have been running so slow!!

if table is big - say some 10,000 plus records then u try creating indexe on the column used in the ORDER BY clause, also think of indexes on the columns used in WHERE clause too. For index creation thing refere to MySql reference material.
