Question

Newbie: How to set off log statements in MySQL?

in mysql client...
mysql> SHOW VARIABLES;
...
| log | ON |
...

How can i set off log ?
SET LOG = OFF doesn't work
comment line in /etc/mysql/my.cnf
# log = /var/...
doesn't work too

How can i do that???

MySQL version: 4.0.16

MYSQL > set
MYSQL > show
