I would like to get some recommendation from this forum in selecting a suitable version of Mysql database for my project development. The following are some info. which i think is relevant the my question :

OS platform : Windows 2003 server
development tools uses : VB 6

migrating from an existing Access 2000 database.

I'm basically helping a friend to migrate his existing beauty saloon system with access 2K db Mysql. So far, I've so far tested Mysql version 4.0.20 and having difficulties in accessing the DB everytime I restart my server. I've followed the steps in this forum to start the DB as a service but problems still exist. Please recommend if version newer than mine will be stable in windows platform. Thank you.
