Database server is started, but when I try

>mysqladmin version

I get

mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user: 'ODBC@localhost' (Using password: NO)'

Does anybody know what that means? I used to be able to use mysqladmin from the command line, and I'm not sure what is up now. Do I have to add another user to the user table?
