I'm having a major problem recently with MySQL. I'm writing a programme in VB6 which is talking to the DB server through OBDC. However, when you open a connection to the server or try and open a recordset the system goes on a major go-slow. It takes it about 10-12 seconds to progress to the next line of code. Anybody any idea's?

The DB has 8 tables all of which are currently empty bar one, which has one record in it! Hence I can't see or understand the problem!
