Problem with Western characters

Hello,
I'm new with MySQL and I have some troubles with some Western characters. If I populate a table with "MySQL command line" with some French characters (é, à) and there after query the table with "MySQL command line", the characters are correct. If I query the table with "MySQL Query Browser" the characters are corrupted.

The server, table and field are character set latin1.

My OS is Windows XP french version.
